About this tool
This free online PDF splitter breaks a PDF into multiple separate files — one per page, or in fixed-size chunks — all in your browser with no upload and no watermark. The results are bundled into a single ZIP so you get one tidy download. Because the split happens on your device, your document stays completely private.
How to use

Split vs. extract
Use Split to turn one PDF into many files. If you only need a chosen set of pages pulled into a single new PDF, the extract PDF pages tool is the better fit.
Split, extract, or merge — which one you want
- Split — one PDF in, many PDFs out, delivered as a ZIP. Right for breaking a bound scan into individual documents.
- Extract — one PDF in, one PDF out containing only the pages you picked. Right for pulling pages 4–9 out of a report.
- Merge — many PDFs in, one out. The inverse of splitting.
Splitting is lossless — but it doesn't shrink much
Pages are copied across intact, with no re-rendering or recompression, so text stays selectable and images keep their original quality. What surprises people is the file sizes: split a 10 MB PDF into ten pages and the parts will total well over 10 MB. Fonts and other shared resources get embedded into every output file rather than once across the document. If size matters, run the results through the PDF compressor.
What splitting does not carry over
Page content survives; document-level structure does not always. Internal links pointing to a page that ended up in a different file will no longer resolve, bookmarks and the table of contents are tied to the original document, and form fields spanning several pages can lose their relationships. For a document where those matter, extracting a range into a single PDF preserves more than splitting into many.
Everything happens in your browser — the file is never uploaded, which is worth knowing when the PDF is a contract, a payslip, or a medical record.
