About this tool

This free online timer and stopwatch runs entirely in your browser — no install, no sign-up. Use the Timer for a countdown to any duration with a beep at the end, or the Stopwatch to count up with lap splits. It's built on real timestamps, so it stays accurate even when the tab is in the background.

How to use

  1. Pick the Timer or Stopwatch tab.
  2. For the timer, set hours/minutes/seconds or tap a preset (1:00, 5:00, 25:00…), then Start.
  3. For the stopwatch, Start to count up and Lap to record splits.
  4. Pause, resume, or Reset at any time.

Common uses

A kitchen or workout timer, a Pomodoro focus timer, exam and presentation timing, cooking, or timing laps and intervals. Add the bookmarklet to keep a countdown timer floating on top of any web page — handy while you work in another tab.

Frequently asked questions

How do I set a timer?

Switch to the Timer tab, enter hours, minutes, and seconds (or tap a preset like 5:00), then click Start. The countdown runs and beeps when it reaches zero. You can pause and resume at any time.

How does the stopwatch work?

Switch to the Stopwatch tab and click Start to count up in hundredths of a second. Use Lap to record split times without stopping the clock, and Reset to clear everything.

Is this timer and stopwatch free?

Yes — it's a completely free online timer and stopwatch with no sign-up, no ads in the tool, and no install.

Does the timer make a sound when it finishes?

Yes. When the countdown reaches zero, the tool plays a short beep and the display flashes 'Time's up'. If your browser blocks audio until you interact with the page, the visual alert still fires.

Will it keep running if I switch tabs?

Yes. The timer and stopwatch are based on real timestamps, so the elapsed or remaining time stays accurate even if the browser throttles the tab in the background. The display catches up when you return.

Can I record lap times?

Yes. While the stopwatch runs, click Lap to capture each split. The list shows the time for each individual lap and the running total.

Is anything uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs entirely in your browser — nothing is sent anywhere and there's no account.

Can I use it as a Pomodoro timer?

Yes. Set the Timer to 25:00 with the preset for a focus session, then a shorter break — the classic Pomodoro pattern. The beep tells you when each interval ends.
