About this tool

This free PDF form filler reads the interactive AcroForm fields from your PDF and lets you fill in text boxes, toggle checkboxes, and choose dropdown options — all in your browser, with no upload. Once you're done, download the filled PDF as-is, or choose to flatten it to lock the values as permanent page content.

How to use

  1. Drop a PDF file with interactive form fields onto the uploader.
  2. Click Load Form Fields to display all text boxes, checkboxes, and dropdowns.
  3. Fill in the fields directly in the browser.
  4. Optionally enable Flatten to lock the form values as static content.
  5. Click Download Filled PDF to save the completed form.

Interactive vs flat forms

True interactive PDFs have an AcroForm layer — named text fields, checkboxes, and dropdowns that can be filled programmatically. Flat-looking forms (scanned paper with printed underlines) have no interactive layer and cannot be filled with this tool — they require either manual annotation (PDF Editor) or re-creation as a proper interactive form.

Frequently asked questions

How do I fill in a PDF form?

Drop your PDF file onto the tool and click Load Form Fields. All interactive fields (text boxes, checkboxes, dropdowns) appear in a list. Fill in each field, then click Download Filled PDF.

Is this PDF form filler free?

Yes — completely free with no sign-up, no upload, and no page limits. Everything runs in your browser.

What form field types are supported?

Text fields, checkboxes, dropdown menus (select lists), and radio button groups. Read-only fields are shown but cannot be edited.

What does 'Flatten form' mean?

Flattening bakes all field values into the static page content, removing the interactive layer. The result looks the same but the fields can no longer be edited — useful for submitting a final, locked copy.

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?

No. The form is filled entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your file never leaves your device, so it is safe for tax forms, contracts, or other sensitive documents.

What if the PDF says 'No form fields found'?

The PDF may not have an interactive AcroForm layer — some PDFs that look like forms are actually flat images or static text. If the form has underlines instead of fillable boxes, it likely has no interactive fields.

Can I fill a password-protected form?

PDFs locked with an open password cannot be loaded. Forms that only restrict printing or editing can often be filled despite those restrictions — pdf-lib loads them with encryption ignored.
