Mouse Test
Test mouse buttons, scroll wheel, and movement — plus a click-speed (CPS) counter. No install.
Interact inside the test zone below. Every button, the scroll wheel, and double-clicks are detected. Right-click and the browser menu is suppressed so the click registers.
Move the mouse fast across the zone to read its polling rate (report rate) — typically ~125 Hz for basic mice and up to 1000 Hz for gaming mice.

About this tool
This free online mouse test checks that every part of your mouse works — the left, right, middle, and side buttons, the scroll wheel, movement tracking, and double-clicks. It also includes a click-speed (CPS) test to measure your clicks per second. Everything runs in your browser with no install.
How to use
- Move, click, and scroll inside the test zone.
- Watch each button indicator light up as you press it.
- Single-click once to check the double-click counter stays at zero.
- Run the CPS test to measure your click speed.
Common uses
Diagnosing a double-clicking or dead mouse button before repairing or returning it, checking a new or second-hand mouse, verifying the scroll wheel, or measuring your clicks per second for gaming. It works with any wired, wireless, or trackpad pointing device your browser recognizes.
Frequently asked questions
How do I test my mouse?
Move, click, scroll, and double-click inside the test zone. Each mouse button — left, middle, right, and the back/forward side buttons — lights up when pressed and stays marked once tested, so you can confirm every button works.
How do I know a mouse button is failing?
Press it and watch its indicator. If a button doesn't light up, it isn't registering. Intermittent lights or a double-click test that jumps by two when you clicked once are classic signs of a worn or double-clicking switch.
How does the click speed (CPS) test work?
Click Start, then click the big button as fast as you can for five seconds. The tool counts your clicks and divides by the time to give your clicks-per-second (CPS) score — handy for comparing mice or practicing.
Can it test the scroll wheel?
Yes. Scroll up or down inside the test zone and the scroll readout shows the direction and a running count, so you can confirm the wheel and its detents are working in both directions.
Why is right-click not opening a menu?
The test zone suppresses the browser's context menu so your right-click registers as a button test instead. That's intentional — outside the tool, right-click works normally.
Does it detect the side (back/forward) buttons?
Yes, on mice that expose them. Press the side buttons over the test zone; navigation is blocked there so the press is captured as a button test rather than moving your browser history.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser using standard mouse events. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.
