Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded when I adjust brightness and contrast?
No. Everything happens entirely in your browser using the HTML Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device, so it is fast and completely private.
What does the brightness slider do?
A value of 100 means no change. Below 100 darkens the image; above 100 lightens it. The range is 0 (completely black) to 200 (very bright).
What does the contrast slider do?
A value of 100 means no change. Below 100 reduces contrast making the image look flat; above 100 increases it, making bright pixels brighter and dark pixels darker.
What format will the output image be?
If your original image is a JPEG, the output is saved as JPEG to keep file sizes small. For all other formats (PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP), the output is saved as PNG to preserve transparency.
Can I adjust brightness and contrast at the same time?
Yes. Both sliders apply together in a single pass using a CSS filter, so you can freely combine brightness and contrast adjustments.
How do I make a photo look washed out or faded?
Lower the contrast slider below 100. Combine it with a slightly raised brightness to create a faded, low-contrast look popular in certain styles.
Will adjusting brightness reduce image quality?
For PNG output the re-encoding is lossless, so there is no quality loss from the format itself. For JPEG output there is a slight quality reduction from re-encoding, the same as any JPEG resave.
