About this tool
This free online EXIF remover strips all metadata from your photos in your browser — no upload needed. Camera model, serial number, GPS location, date and time, and all other EXIF tags are wiped clean by re-drawing the image on an HTML canvas and re-encoding it. Drop in one photo or dozens; download each file individually or grab them all as a ZIP.
How to use
- Drop one or more images into the drop zone (or click to browse).
- Each image is cleaned instantly — no settings to change.
- Download each cleaned file with the Download button, or use "Download all (ZIP)" for a batch.
Privacy note
Your photos never leave your device. All processing happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API, so no file is ever transmitted to any server.
Frequently asked questions
Is this EXIF remover free?
Yes — completely free, no sign-up, no watermark, and no file size limits. Strip metadata from as many photos as you need.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Every photo is processed entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Nothing is ever sent to any server, so it's fast and completely private.
What is EXIF data and why remove it?
EXIF data is metadata embedded in photo files — it can include your camera model, settings, date and time, and crucially, GPS coordinates that reveal exactly where a photo was taken. Removing it before sharing photos online protects your privacy.
Does it remove GPS location from photos?
Yes. Drawing the image onto a canvas and re-encoding it strips all embedded metadata, including GPS location, camera model, serial number, and any other EXIF tags.
Which image formats are supported?
JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and BMP. JPEG files are saved as JPEG, PNG as PNG, and WebP as WebP. GIF and BMP are converted to PNG.
Can I remove EXIF from multiple photos at once?
Yes. Drop in as many photos as you like — they're all processed at once. Download them individually or grab them all in a single ZIP file.
Will removing EXIF data affect image quality?
For JPEG files, there may be a very slight quality change since the image is re-encoded. PNG and WebP files are losslessly re-exported so there is no quality loss.
How do I know the metadata has been removed?
You can verify by opening the cleaned image in a photo viewer and checking Properties or Get Info — no EXIF fields should appear. You can also use the Image Metadata Viewer tool on this site to inspect before and after.
