About this tool
This free online countdown timer tracks a live count to any date and time — days, hours, minutes, and seconds — updating every second. It doubles as a D-Day tracker, telling you how many days remain until an event or how long ago a date was. Add as many countdowns as you want, each with its own label; edit them, arrange them in any order, and they're saved in your browser so they stay put between visits. Everything runs locally with no upload.
How to use
- Enter a label (e.g. "My birthday") and a target date and time.
- Click Add countdown — it appears as a live card and is saved automatically.
- Edit a card's label or date, or reorder cards with the up / down / top controls.
- Remove any countdown with its delete button.
Common uses
Counting down to launches, exams, birthdays, holidays, and deadlines, or tracking how long it's been since a milestone. Add the bookmarklet to keep a countdown handy on any page.
Frequently asked questions
How does the countdown timer work?
Give each countdown a label and a target date and time, then add it. The tool shows a live countdown — days, hours, minutes, and seconds — that updates every second until the moment arrives.
Can I track multiple countdowns at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like — birthdays, deadlines, trips, launches — and each gets its own live countdown card.
Can I edit or reorder my countdowns?
Yes. Each card has an edit button to change its label or target date, and up / down / move-to-top controls to arrange the list in any order you want. Your edits and chosen order are saved automatically.
Are my countdowns saved when I leave?
Yes. Every countdown — and its order — is saved in your browser's local storage, so they're still here when you reopen the page (or the bookmarklet on the same site). There's no account and nothing is uploaded; clearing your site data removes them.
Is this countdown timer free?
Yes — it's a completely free online countdown and D-Day tracker with no sign-up.
What is a D-Day count?
It's the number of days remaining until (or elapsed since) a target date. The summary line shows 'X days to go' before the date and 'X days ago' afterwards.
Does it keep counting if the date has passed?
Yes. Once the target passes, it counts up to show how long ago it was, so you can use it as a 'time since' tracker too.
Does it use my local time?
Yes. The target uses your device's local time zone, so the countdown matches the clock where you are.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The countdown runs entirely in your browser with no upload.
